6 Months Old

Robin is not sure about this whole 6 month old thing.  In fact, he is feeling a bit stoic.

I cannot believe it has already been 6 months since Robin joined our family.  It has been an interesting couple of days with young Robin.  He seems to find a way to contract all sorts of fun illnesses and then respond in an extreme way.  In the words of our doctor, "go big or go home."

Robin woke up Saturday with a fever of 103, Sunday of 103, and Monday 104.9.  We got to visit the Saturday clinic, Children's Urgent Care, and Children's ER.  Turns out Robin managed to get a UTI.  Tuesday his fever came down to 102.5, but he still got to make a trip into see our regular doctor.  The fever, combined with vomiting and diarrhea, made for one tired and sick little boy.  Robin is doing okay now aside from having an additional upper respiratory infection and rash (probably has a result of either infection).  The antibiotics are working.  He is scheduled to have an ultrasound on his kidneys in about a week and a half.  Sick babies are very pathetic, but also kind of nice.  All they do is sleep and snuggle.  It was not too much of a sacrifice to lay in bed with Robin for several days.

Robin has grown a lot!  I think most of it happened in the last two weeks.  His cuteness just kills me.  I look at him and feel like I am going to burst.

Weight:  16 pounds  20th percentile     Height: 26.5 inches  43rd percentile
Head Circumference  43.8 cm   64th percentile

He wears 3-6 month clothes.  As my previous post mentioned,  sleeping at night is not one of his strengths.  He has not started solids yet.  Just as his eczema cleared up, he got sick.  I'm waiting for him to be  healthy and done with antibiotics before I introduce solids.  I want to be able to tell if he has an adverse reaction to a food.  Poor guy.  He is drooling at the mouth, waiting to get some big people food.

He has been bulking up and now sports the same rosy, chubby cheeks that Eileen did. Robin enjoys playing peek-a-boo and is still in love with the baby in the mirror.  He finds my vacuuming very soothing.  I haven't decided yet if it's the sound or the impending cleanliness that he finds so alluring.

Robin loves to "read" his soft books.

Robin finally rolled over this past month.  On St. Patrick's Day he was enjoying a little naked time after bath and decided to knock out both milestones of rolling back to front and front to back.  I still wouldn't call him proficient at rolling.

Eileen and Linus still adore him.  Eileen likes to read to Robin and wrestle with him.  She constantly checks on him and tries to soothe him when he is upset.  Linus prefers to just inform me that Robin wants me.

Making sure Robin develops an early passion for Mo Willem.
After this most recent round of illness and daily doctor visits,  I am hoping that the next six months are a little smoother.
